With the price of electricity on the rise and consumer demand for power growing every year, it pays to make every kilowatt count. For instance, did you know that in the average home, 75% of the electricity used to power home electronics is consumed while the products are turned off? To help consumers learn how much electricity appliances in their homes use, Ameren Illinois Utilities have made an easy-to-use power meter available for loan to the public through local public libraries.
This devise accurately measures how much electricity it takes to operate a variety of household appliance and calculates the actual and projected cost of the electricity used. It will give you a better understanding of your home’s power needs, so you can make informed decisions about how to use energy in your household and save on your power bill. If you live in the City of Marshall or the Marshall School District and would like to borrow the “Kill A Watt” Power Meter from Marshall Public Library, just stop by and check it out with your library card. If you do not have a library card, but are eligible for one, you will be issued a card and may check out the devise within just a few minutes if it is available.
